Reading, Pa., February 21, 2012 - Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (EPP) is launching Nylatron® WP, its newest innovation for cost-effective, high-performance material developed specifically for wear pad grade applications.
"In comparison tests, Nylatron WP outperforms other leading Nylon materials used for wear pads at a fraction of the cost," said Chuck Wiedenhoefer, Global Market Segment Manager - Construction & Heavy Equipment Quadrant EPP. "Aside from the cost advantage, it enhances the life of wear pads through its durable and sustainable features.
Nylatron WP has superior wear resistance, low friction and stress-free properties that make it ideal for demanding applications and extending the life of parts. It is made with Quadrant's proprietary self-lubricating Nylon 6 formation that lasts up to five times longer than standard cast nylons (Type 6 Nylon) in wear applications. With less downtime and reduced maintenance, end-users benefit from the increased performance and productivity, saving time and money.
Lighter in weight than metal, Nylatron WP reduces chatter and the loss of control or stick slip that is associated with it. Recognized for its toughness and good abrasion resistance properties, Nylatron WP provides noise reduction and corrosion resistance.
Overall, machined plastics in the Nylatron product line are easily machined and quickly fabricated.
Nylon, which is inherently impact resistant, is used in wear pad applications because of its low friction properties. Because it can withstand higher loads, Nylatron WP can reduce or possibly eliminate the need for costly lubrication systems and keep equipment running efficiently. These characteristics have made nylon products very popular since Quadrant first introduced and patented nylon stock shapes in 1946.
