East Aurora, NY, USA, June 11, 2012 - Moog, a provider of world-class high performance test and simulation solutions, has introduced a new Moog Turret Test System, which will be shown for the first time at Eurosatory 2012 in Paris from 11-15 June.
The Moog Turret Test System is based on a high performance 6 Degrees of Freedom (DOF) electric motion system with powerful test software to simulate test tracks and test performance of the turret stabilizer. On the top platform of the Turret Tester, the user can install an actual turret or a remote weapon station. It can handle a wide range of payloads up to 24,000 kg (53,000 lb) and meet specific requirements related to particular excursions, velocities or accelerations. The Moog Replication software module has been developed to accurately simulate vehicle movements as recorded on the test track.
The Moog Turret Tester is based on a commercial motion system using Moog designed and built Electric Actuators, Servo drives and enhanced real-time motion software, and is ideally suited for the development of control and stabilization systems, system integration (e.g. weapon, periscope), demonstration of turret performance and end-of line production testing.
The system facilitates the development and testing of new systems in laboratory conditions instead of on a remote test track, thus speeding up the development process. It features accurate playback of the target file with RMS error typically <10%; 100% motion repeatability; a range of user-friendly features to help reduce typical training time to 2-3 days; and the availability of proven Moog software modules.
Moog Replication Software Module ensures that the motion profile is accurately reproduced, using an automatic 6-DOF multi-frequency iterative process. If required, Moog can customize motion systems and top platforms to meet specific performance and interface requirements.
Introducing the new Turret Test System, Marie-Laure Gelin, marketing manager at Moog said: "As a leading supplier of integrated control actuation systems, Moog has supplied thousands of motion platforms, offering reliable system solutions that add significant value for our customers. This new Turret Test System can make a significant contribution by helping to find better ways of performing and thus improve competitiveness." |
