Premier Power to Provide 16.2 MW of Solar in Bulgaria

11/5/2011

Exhibitor at the 7-th South-East European EE & RES Exhibition in Sofia, Bulgaria - Premier Power to add more than 75% to country's solar capacity in 2011, marking significant step toward renewables target

Premier Power, a global leader in the development, design, engineering and construction of solar power systems for commercial, government and utility markets, today announced it will build four photovoltaic (PV) power plants totaling 16.2 MW in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria. The projects represent a more than 75 percent increase in the country's solar capabilities since the beginning of 2011, when installed capacity was reported at approximately 21 MW.

The agreement is the result of a joint venture with European EPC firm Plaan Czech, s.r.o. Ranging in size from 3 MW to 5 MW, the installations are funded through a private investment company based in the Czech Republic.
"These projects underscore Premier Power's unparalleled ability to rapidly respond to dynamic economies and shifting renewable energy policies in emerging and established markets around the world. Our previous successes in Eastern Europe - a region few others have been able to effectively penetrate - are now enabling us to capture significant market share in Bulgaria," said Bjorn Persson, executive vice president of European operations at Premier Power. "We look forward to building our presence in Bulgaria as the country aggressively targets its goal of reaching 16 percent renewable power by the year 2020."

Premier Power's project portfolio spans across Europe and North America, with more than 1,000 systems in operation to date. Additional installation locations include France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Greece, the Czech Republic, and the United States.

Construction on the Bulgaria projects will begin this month. All four systems are scheduled for completion by the end of 2011.
