TE Connectivity to showcase advances in end-to-end data connectivity and power distribution at the IZB Auto Show 2018

10/17/2018

The connected technologies leader will demonstrate its integrated automotive connector, sensor and antenna solutions powering the next-generation vehicle

BENSHEIM, Germany - October 16, 2018 - TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, will showcase its role as a major player supporting the future of mobility at the upcoming International Suppliers Fair, the IZB Auto Show, in Wolfsburg, Germany, Oct. 16 - 18, 2018.

Visitors to TE's exhibit in hall 1, booth #1223 will have the chance to see first-hand how the company is continuing to develop its already extensive portfolio to meet the advancing requirements of autonomous driving and powertrain electrification. At the show, TE will feature products and solutions for both end-to-end data connectivity within the car and beyond, and end-to-end power distribution from the infrastructure grid to the core of the vehicle.

Reimagining connectivity in the car and beyond

Next-generation vehicles must be able to handle and analyze enormous amounts of data, generated both inside and outside the car. TE's end-to-end portfolio of sophisticated sensor, antenna, and high-speed data connectivity technologies work together to sense the internal and external environments, and receive, act upon, and transmit data in real-time to devices throughout the vehicle and in the physical world it navigates. At its booth, TE will show its modular and scalable connectors for automotive UTP/STP Ethernet applications, with proven high-speed transmission rates. TE's connectors that support next-generation Ethernet architecture are currently able to support up to 1Gbps (MATEnet connector for Ethernet) and 12Gbps (coaxial MATE-AX connector for camera and display links), while the company continues to develop products that will support up to 24 Gbps for future advanced autonomous driving applications. Smarter design for such connectors, meanwhile, is delivering added benefits in the form of miniaturized solutions. The MATE-AX connector, for example, can save up to 75% in PCB packaging space.

Wireless connectivity solutions by HIRSCHMANN MOBILITY

TE's innovative portfolio of broadcast tuners and smart antennas, ranging from the current 4G models to the 5G models in development, are a result of its acquisition of Hirschmann Car Communication, a leading provider of antennas, antenna systems and broadcast tuners for automotive and commercial vehicle applications. At IZB, the product portfolio will be shown for the first time under its new brand name, HIRSCHMANN MOBILITY.

Meeting the power demands of tomorrow's vehicles

Handling the high voltages that come along with the introduction of electrified powertrains in road vehicles not only requires advanced battery technologies that support the power demands of tomorrow's vehicle, but also the supporting infrastructure. At IZB, TE will highlight its latest products and technologies that enable these developments. Leading products include AMP+ high-voltage terminal and connector systems, AMP+ type 2 charging solutions, and the latest EVC automotive contactors. Also on display will be TE's battery and battery management control technologies, including the newest cell contacting and sensor solutions. TE actively contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and is ready to complete the connections our customers need to help safely, efficiently and reliably make hybrid and electric mobility a sustainable reality.

TE's transparent car and award-winning Virtual Connected Car

Visitors to the TE booth will have the opportunity to view and interact with more than 130 automotive products in both its full-size, acrylic transparent vehicle, and with its Red Dot award-winning 3D product explorer, the Virtual Connected Car (VCC). Using a 98-inch, 4K high-resolution touchscreen, the VCC gives users a 360º view of TE's products, with the ability to rotate the car and zoom in for a closer look.

"TE solutions help our customers meet the evolving challenges and requirements of the auto industry," notes Matthias Lechner, general manager, Automotive EMEA at TE Connectivity. "We are committed to providing connectivity and sensor solutions that enable OEMs to put more innovation into the connected car, with products that are smaller and lighter, and with high reliability to perform as expected in the harshest environments."
