Established in 1940, The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) is the oldest Chamber in the State of Gujarat and is the only Chamber of Commerce which boasts of a Convention Centre.

To keep pace with the changing economic scenario, a need was felt to build a world class Convention Centre in Surat, which could provide a platform to organise exhibitions, trade shows, buyer - seller meets and seminars. The Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) was initiated to address this need.
