Prominent French presence at Innotrans 2010 rail trade show in Berlin

The Innotrans trade show, a biennial and essential event in the rail sector which will be held in Berlin (Germany) from 21st to 24th September 2010, will host numerous French participants this year. The pavilion organized by UBIFRANCE, the French agency for international development is bringing together the largest number of players from this sector ever to participate in a foreign trade show. Moreover, to support these companies in their export drives, ''International meetings of rail and urban transport'' will be organized at the show. This event will allow French companies to keep themselves informed of opportunities on export markets and meet global rail operators.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is contributing solutions to those issues with an International Standard for a navigation system application programming interface (API).

WorldAutoSteel joins corporations from 17 countries and 20 industry sectors in a road test of a new global framework for green house gas emissions (GHG) measurement. The road test is part of the GHG Protocol Initiative convened by the World Resource Institute (WRI) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), whose mission is to develop internationally accepted GHG accounting and reporting standards and promote their use worldwide. WorldAutoSteel announced today its participation in the road test for one of two new standards developed through the GHG Protocol Initiative: the Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard. This standard provides guidance for the preparation of a GHG emissions inventory for a given product.

The burgeoning electric vehicle EV industry cannot be understood by simply looking at cars. The complete market value is, and will remain, about double the market for cars. The leaders such as Toyota, Honda and Nissan make electric vehicles for many applicational sectors. Indeed, many of them also control the manufacture of the component that most affects price and performance - the battery. For example, Nissan has a major program to put next generation lithium batteries from its battery joint venture into its forklifts as well as its cars. Toyota makes heavy and light industrial EVs from forklifts to buses and mobility for the disabled, not just electric cars, and the knowledge in these different divisions is shared between them all. Much is written about hybrid cars but there are substantial sales of hybrid military trucks, buses and even motorcycles now.

Hyundai reports about the application of WheelWatch

 Since last summer, AICON's measuring system WheelWatch has been used by the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center (HMETC) in Rüsselsheim/Germany. The HMETC applies WheelWatch for steering and suspension analyses during test drives. With the help of high resolution digital cameras, the WheelWatch system is able to acquire the wheel movements without any time limit at frequencies up to 490Hz.

The LMS engineering team will provide Toyota with three vehicle energy management flow simulators for three different vehicles: the Toyota Corolla, the hybrid Toyota Prius, and the new micro-four-seater, the Toyota IQ. With these new dedicated simulators, Toyota will be able to investigate heat management strategies and architectures using one-dimensional simulation extremely early in the development cycle. This will let Toyota study the direct influence of design changes on fuel consumption as well as CO2 emissions and, in the end, significantly reduce the number of physical prototypes.
