In December 2013, Stiles Machinery launched their annual "Own an Ironwood" online contest. The winner was awarded the option to select either an Ironwood CUT14 cut-off saw or a $4,000 voucher toward any other Ironwood machine. The contest ran from December 2013 - February 2014.
This year's winner of Stiles' annual contest is Madison Area Technical College (MATC), located in Madison, Wisconsin. MATC has opted to apply the $4,000 towards a new Ironwood BR23 construction boring machine. Patrick Molzhan, Woodworking Program Director at MATC, strongly believes this machine will strengthen the training students receive while pursuing their education and skill development.
MATC offers a wide array of courses related to manufacturing with a program dedicated to cabinetmaking and millwork. Courses emphasize hands-on training to allow students to ability to easily be marketable after graduation.
"MATC has a long history of preparing students to be successful in a variety of manufacturing careers." said Aaron Brink, Product Specialist for Ironwood at Stiles Machinery. "Understanding the importance of continuing to build the skills of future machinists, we at Stiles are excited to work with MATC on their new Ironwood machine and hope it will be an asset in their ongoing educational efforts."
The Ironwood BR23 construction boring machine provides a 23-spindle universal drilling solution, with horizontal and vertical boring capabilities with pneumatic tilting of the boring unit from 0 to 90 degrees.
These machines are ergonomically designed for applications that require drilling of single or multiple holes, in the vertical or horizontal direction in a single function. The "drill from beneath" functionality provides faster, cleaner and safer drilling while boasting quick set-up times. |
