April 15, 2013 - Munich, Germany - In 2012, Atlas Copco Portable Energy made real on its focus on power generation with the creation of its Generator Competence Centre in Zaragoza, Spain.
Tangible results immediately followed with the introduction of a first wave of generator innovations, including the new QAS 250 and the industry-leading Digital Genset Management solution. With Predictable Power, formally introduced this week at Bauma, Atlas Copco puts a name and a face to its focused approach for the on-site generator and power generation business.
For Atlas Copco, Predictable Power is both a pledge to customers and state of mind. "Customers don't need a piece of equipment; they need power. With Predictable Power, we communicate clearly to customers what they can expect from us: low cost of ownership, reliable performance and risk-free operation. In order to deliver these key benefits and the peace of mind that comes with them, Predictable Power is ingrained in everything we do, from design, testing, building, to commissioning and maintenance," said Júlio Tomé, Product Manager Generators with Atlas Copco Portable Energy.
With Predictable Power comes a strong sense of direction in terms of marketing strategy. "Delivering on the three key Predictable Power supporting values of low cost of ownership, reliable performance and risk-free operation, is an absolute requirement. We do this best in the on-site generator and power generation business. Atlas Copco generators are made to run, which is why we won't focus on, for example, standby power," explained Tomé.
Predictable Power thus also guides Atlas Copco's innovation efforts: "We take a holistic approach to product development. The sum of the pieces will have to meet the three quality criteria of Predictable Power," stated Tomé.
The recent launch of the QAS250 and the Atlas Copco Digital Genset Management solution provide telling examples. "Atlas Copco's Digital Genset Management helps us lead the industry towards increasingly smaller, more flexible machines that can easily be combined for larger projects. Customers enjoy significantly reduced costs, improved fuel efficiency, easier maintenance and increased lifetime. That is what Predictable Power is all about," concluded Tomé. |
