LMS launches LMS Imagine.Lab Rev12

3/20/2013

User-efficiency and streamlining to take up engineering challenges

March 19, 2013 - Leuven, Belgium - LMS, the leading partner in test and mechatronic simulation, today announces the launch of Rev12 of its flagship platform for mechatronic system simulation, LMS Imagine.Lab. As with its previous versions, this new release includes several remarkable new features and improvements, among which a particular emphasis has been placed on user efficiency, controls engineering support, collaboration and application-oriented solutions. LMS, which was recently acquired by Siemens, is now a business segment within Siemens PLM Software.

Drastically improving user-efficiency

Rev12 marks an important step in the usability and user efficiency of LMS Imagine.Lab. Several new features and improvements will help both experts and non-experts to benefit from the unique capabilities of the mechatronic system simulation platform. Among these additions, the new Apps Designer allows design engineers to easily create application-specific pre- and post-processing tools linked to certain models or components. Moreover, major improvements in the Supercomponent capabilities have been made, like the possibility to easily edit icons, ports and images, but also the possibility to encrypt Supercomponents to protect Intellectual Property.

An advanced controls validation platform

To strengthen its position as a leading platform for the support of controls development and validation, LMS Imagine.Lab Rev12 has a fully integrated, redesigned Simulink® environment interface. It enables users to easily create and configure the AMESim interface in Simulink without the need for any Matlab® environment scripts. In addition, an NI VeriStand interface has been developed, thus extending the integration of AMESim into MiL/SiL/HiL processes.

Geared toward collaboration and architecture-driven

To extend the Model-Based System Engineering capabilities of LMS Imagine.Lab, Rev12 comes with a new integrated SysDM client for AMESim. With this new feature, the AMESim user can benefit directly from SysDM's model and data management features through an efficient and transparent integration in the day-to-day working environment. LMS Imagine.Lab Rev12 also comes with major improvements for System Synthesis, the architecture and configuration management tool, with new capabilities to build system configurations on the basis of tool-neutral system architectures (SysML import).

The pillar for industrial innovation

LMS Imagine.Lab is an undisputed ally to support design engineers in managing the growing complexity of mechatronic systems. With validated, application-oriented features, LMS Imagine.Lab is the ideal solution to drive virtual, intelligent system design all along the design cycle.

With Rev12, automotive manufacturers and suppliers benefit from many new capabilities to overcome daily engineering challenges. Thanks to Apps Designer, new and efficient pre- and post-processing tools - Heat Exchangers Calibration, Battery Parameter Identification, Trajectory Generation, Combustion Analysis as well as Engine Block Parameterization - are now provided within AMESim. Moreover, Rev12 comes with a new drivability assessment tool which analyzes the driver perception for each maneuver and returns customizable objective drivability ratings. A new Energy Storage System solution as well as the associated Battery Identification Tool now enable engineers to model and study the thermal-electric behavior of ultra-capacitors and battery components.

In the aeronautics and space domains, LMS Imagine.Lab Rev12 has made tremendous progress to consolidate its offer and make it inevitable for both system design and aircraft integration. The new Aircraft Fuel Systems library brings unrivalled capability to assess not only the fuel system as a piping network for fuel, but also to cover the whole analysis of thermal integration and inerting/pressurization network. In addition, the new Aircraft Electrics library allows for an easy and smooth integration of the more electrical aircraft and aids in designing reliable electrical networks.

For mechanical industries, in addition to the improvements for automotive applications mentioned above, LMS Imagine.Lab Rev12 henceforth integrates new ropes and pulleys components for applications such as cranes and band conveyors. It also proposes a revolutionary approach with the new Adaptive Thermal-Hydraulic solution, making it possible to select the necessary level of assumption for the type of analysis to be performed on fluid systems.

"Rev12 of Imagine.Lab is a step forward in terms of capabilities for system design and system engineering in general. Features such as its flexibility for Thermal-Hydraulic systems and components modeling are very valuable. Its overall capabilities, openness and robustness are key criteria for large deployment and intensive production use of system simulation," comments Dr. Lars Reichelt, Technical Information Processing at Robert Bosch GmbH.

"We are proud at LMS of the work accomplished in the new Rev12 release of Imagine.Lab and the amount of user valued content it includes. The three products of the Imagine.Lab family (AMESim, SysDM, System Synthesis) have all benefited from our increased development efforts toward many new features and constant quality improvements.", adds Nicolas Orand, Imagine.Lab Solutions Director at LMS. "This release is the outcome of the LMS commitment and investment to bringing System Engineering and System Simulation closer for greater industrial products."
