Biggest ever French contingent at InnoTrans 2012

5/16/2012

With more companies than ever before attending InnoTrans, France will once again be the foreign country with the largest number of exhibitors at the world's leading trade fair for the rail and urban transport sector. Up to 90 companies will showcase their innovative products and services in the French pavilion. Occupying 1,100 sq.m. and three halls dedicated to rail technology and infrastructure, the pavilion is being organised by UBIFRANCE, the French Agency for International Business Development. Charged with promoting French exports, UBIFRANCE will take advantage of the exhibition's international standing to organise the 2nd "International rail and urban transport meetings". These meetings are designed to help French companies identify opportunities on international markets and meet global decision-makers from the sector.

InnoTrans, a biennial event in Berlin, traditionally consists of indoor and outdoor exhibitions and a convention. The only trade fair of its kind, each InnoTrans event attracts even more visitors than the last. In 2010, some 2,250 exhibitors from 45 countries welcomed more than 103,000 professional visitors. This year, exhibitor numbers in the France pavilion will be up 13% on 2010. Six regions will be present: Auvergne, Bourgogne, Centre, Pays de la Loire, Nord Pas-de-Calais, and Picardie. The SMEs and clusters attending the fair will provide visitors with a snapshot of the French rail industry. Much of the machinery on display will come from the electronics, smelting, metallurgy, subcontracting, machining, paint, pneumatics and cables sectors.

Building on the success of the first "International rail and urban transport meetings", UBIFRANCE is planning to organise a second event from 19-20 September. Aimed at French companies, these meetings are designed to help businesses develop a better understanding of potential international markets through multi-country information workshops and B to B meetings with rail experts from 17 UBIFRANCE overseas offices. Participants will be able to meet with decision-makers from different countries to discuss possible partnerships. The meetings will be complemented by a business reception at the French Embassy in Berlin attended by players from the French and German rail sectors. These meetings are sponsored by the SNCF, which will enjoy a very strong presence at InnoTrans 2012. Two other companies are expected to benefit in particular from the high-profile presence of French companies at InnoTrans by sponsoring the event: the security parts designer and manufacturer SCOMA, and Leroy Automation, which specialises in automation products for railways.

The French rail industry generated a turnover of 4.82 billion EUR in 2010, including 1.65 billion EUR in exports, an increase on 2009. The French rail sector is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for all sub-sectors, from rolling stock and tracks to engineering.

Innovative French products and services will be showcased in Halls 21b, 11.2 and 3.2. Don't hesitate to take look!
