Get More Performance and Longer Tool Life With New Road Razor ECO™ Pro from Kennametal

5/1/2012

The New Shape of Road Construction Productivity

(LATROBE, PA) - Designed to work like no other road construction tool, the new Road Razor ECO™ Pro from Kennametal combines a unique and proprietary shape with improved hardness throughout the head area and a thicker nonagon shaped washer. The result is the economical and ecological tool of choice for road-milling companies interested in improved performance and maximum value - economical because increased performance and longer tool life lower costs. Ecological because road milling machines absorb far less abuse, use less fuel, and have lower emissions.

"When time is money, speed is everything," says Nick Gaten, marketing director, Earth Cutting Tools, at Kennametal. "Maximum hardness and improved shape in road milling tools means much easier cutting at faster speeds for longer than users may have thought possible. Due to significantly lower power demand, customers can choose to run at conventional speeds and save fuel, or run faster and spend less time to complete the job. This choice gives these tools economical and ecological competitive advantages."

A unique and proprietary thicker nonagon-shaped washer, extending
the life of the toolholder allowing maximum tool life. The nonagon design with overhanging corners also makes cutting easier by encouraging tool rotation, adding increased performance to longer tool life.

At the tip end, the Road Razor ECO's proprietary point design is combined with Kennametal's advanced carbide grades and higher head hardness, results in far less cracking and longer performance in even the most abrasive asphalt conditions. At the retainer end, thicker material ensures exceptional fit and rotation throughout the life of the tool.

"It's acquired operator knowledge that a worn tool penetrates better toward the end of its life, meaning you can speed a milling machine up if the tip is still OK," Gaten explains. "Kennametal's advanced cold-forming technology gives Road Razor ECO Pro the shape of a worn tool, and with better hardness than most new tools. New levels of productivity are the results."
