Genesis Plastics Welding Nears Completion on $2 Million Expansion Project

3/30/2012

Plastics manufacturer and RF welding expert is wrapping up a 2-year initiative to accommodate growing demand from the medical device sector

INDIANAPOLIS (EMBARGO) - Just in time for NPE2012 in Orlando, Florida, Genesis Plastics Welding, one of the industry's largest contract plastics manufacturers and radio frequency (RF) welders, announces that its 2-year expansion project is nearing completion. The $2 million initiative includes major renovations to Genesis' corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility that will increase its real estate footprint to nearly 50,000 square feet. Construction will create more space for 50 new employees and double the size of Genesis' ISO Class 7 Standard 14644 medical clean room used exclusively for medical device manufacturing. Company officials are confident that this investment positions Genesis to capture significantly more market share from the global medical sector.

While Genesis Plastics Welding's 25-year legacy has been steeped in the military, automotive, marine and consumer products markets, serving the closely regulated medical device industry over the last 5 years has exponentially improved the company's quality assurance program, prompted new innovations in its technologies and streamlined its manufacturing, production and operational processes. Now, Genesis applies these new higher standards and best practices across the entire organization and its customer base. Once completed, the $2 million expansion project will increase the company's capacity to serve fast-growing demand for medical devices manufactured with an endless array of thermoplastic materials.

"The medical device sector is a good investment for Genesis because it aligns well with our strategic values related to introducing industry innovations, ensuring quality craftsmanship, providing technical excellence, creating an exceptional customer experience and offering environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes," said Tom Ryder, Genesis Plastics Welding's president and chief executive officer.

"Serving the medical device market segment has given Genesis the opportunity to push the limits of all of our previous successes combined. Through our medical device customers, we have proven that we can meet the most stringent industry regulations, help ambitious manufacturers maintain an edge in highly competitive marketplaces and offer viable solutions to consumer demand for biodegradable, antimicrobial, hypo-allergenic, green and PVC-free polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene and other low-loss polymers or phthalate-free plastics. As significant as our construction project is, it represents only a fraction of Genesis' collective investment in intellectual capital, industry relationships, certifications and knowledge transfer over the last five years of serving medical device manufacturers."

Genesis' 2-year expansion project is scheduled to wrap up by the end of May. The new facility will be fully operational in June. The company is actively recruiting 50 new employees for a variety of engineering, production and sales positions. This round of hiring will bring Genesis' workforce to 137.
