Groche Technik GmbH: Mixing nozzles and special screws as highlights

9/23/2011

Technically advanced plasticizing sets - screws and cylinders in bespoke and standard versions, including the innovative mixing nozzle - are presented by Groche Technik GmbH in Kalletal, Germany, during Fakuma 2011 in Hall B3, Stand 3106. Experience has shown that visitors will pay attention not only to the high-performance screws and cylin-ders, but also to the decompression and shut-off nozzles. In this field, Groche Technik can offer different variants. "We would like to show interested parties the special features of the nozzles equipped with spring lock", explains Armin Groche. For the managing di-rector of the company employing a team of currently 50 staff, their success is founded on closeness to their customers and to applied processing solutions. At this trade fair, dis-cussions could possibly be held about a revolutionary discovery, where the decisive breakthrough in the development of a process is imminent, optimising the preservation of the structure of reinforcing materials and their chosen orientation during the injection moulding process.

Screws, cylinders, non-return valves and nozzles will be on display at Fakuma. "With the nozzles we offer specialities, such as spring locks or hydraulically and pneumatically operated nozzles", Armin Groche continues. The already mentioned mixing nozzle offers users a number of process optimising advantages: It impresses with its flexible application and, if required, the fast changeover of the nozzle. In addition, it can be used with almost all types of plastics. "This mixing nozzles is all but indestructible and, at last, a faster and cleaner colour change is possible", adds Armin Groche. Applications have shown that the mixer operates without any noticeable loss of pressure. Due to the fact that there are no dead zones, it is self-cleaning, thus resulting in uniform permeability - without any stall in the flow. All these features have a positive influence on the quality of the parts, on cycle-time and process sustainability. In addition, Groche will show wear-resistant carbide screws with non-adhesion coating - so-called ‘Long-Life' screws. The coating, containing tungsten carbide, facilitates an improvement in the lifetime and endurance strength of at least 100 percent when compared with conventional screws.

The ‘Long-Life' screw - enhanced with state-of-the-art coatings with a degree of hardness of up to 68-71 HRC (Hardness Rockwell) - does not pose any problems in the plasticising of extremely complex plastics: The screws are used, for example, with polymers containing glass fibre or other highly aggressive materials in the metal or ceramics moulding sectors. The screws are machined with water-cooled diamond sanding belts or diamond discs. The adhesion resistant surface of the screws improves high screw lifetime: "We have established statistics to show that our screws have reached double the lifetime compared with those with powder metallurgical materials. In addition, users can make economies with regard to disassembly, cleaning and installation. Availability is very high, the production flow has improved sustainably", emphasises Armin Groche.

Apart from the injection moulding industry, Groche screws and cylinders are also used in rubber, extrusion, and thermoset technologies. The smallest Groche screw has a diameter of 12 mm, the largest that of 150 mm at a length of 4200 mm. "There is plenty of upward scope - more than 4.5 m plus a diameter of 180 mm should be possible", concludes Groche.
