The French Railway Industry always at the forefront at InnoTrans 2016

6/11/2016

[Hong Kong, 10 June 2016] Business France, the French National Agency, which works to internationalize the French economy, is organizing France's iconic pavilion at the InnoTrans Fair, an international tradeshow for the rail industry. The 95 French companies, of which nearly 30% are new exhibitors, will showcase their products, services and expertise. Many of them are accompanied by their cluster or region; they will be exhibiting on the three French Pavilions which are located in Halls 3.2, 11.2 and 26b, on a total space of 1,700 sqm. Furthermore, nearly 90 companies will strengthen the French presence through individual booths.

5 sponsors from the industrial and high technology fields will illustrate French expertise and will be partnering with Business France for the fair: CENTRALP, a leader in embedded electronics (www.centralp.fr), CIM, a group specializing in the maintenance of rolling stock (www.cimgroupe.com), CORYS, the benchmark for the design and manufacture of driving simulators (www.corys.com), FLERTEX, an expert in disc brake linings and brake shoes (www.flertex.fr) and NEXTER ELECTRONICS, a professional in embedded electronic systems engineering (www.nexter-group.fr).

3 questions for Marie-Gabrielle VAILLANDET, the organizer of the Business France pavilion:

- Why was Fer de France chosen as a partner for Business France for this edition?

Fer de France is partnering the France pavilion for the second time. This professional organization, created in 2012, brings together all public and private rail stakeholders: public authorities, transport authorities, passenger and freight transport operators, infrastructure managers, manufacturers and engineering companies. They represent more than 30 billion of estimated rail turnover and about 300,000 jobs.

The presence of Fer de France on the French Pavilion fulfills its vocation of making the excellence and expertise of the entire French rail industry to serve global visions and common ambitions in France and abroad. Fer de France wants to highlight the efficiency of the sector's partner structures, such as competitiveness clusters, universities, schools and technological research institutes. Committed to energy transition and controlling climate change, Fer de France wishes to affirm the challenge of the modal shift to clean modes and mainly to rail, which is the most efficient in terms of energy consumption, decongestion and the use of infrastructure and spaces.

These are why Fer de France remains associated with Business France within a portal website to promote internationally the French rail offer: www.french-rail-industry.com. This English-language website promotes the entire industry, identifies a number of key projects of French companies abroad, as well as major events of the year in which they participate. The website allows foreign buyers to consult the profile of French companies of their choice, and to contact them directly through a dedicated matchmaking platform.

- France is recognized as an innovative country in the rail industry; how the innovations will be highlighted?

For the first time, we will be organizing a Grand Prix for SMEs and mid-market companies; for Business France, it means continuing its supportive role by encouraging the efforts of the French Pavilion companies in promoting and launching new products.
The selection is being launched and will primarily concern the mechanical components sector, followed by the electronic systems and security checking sectors.

- What are the strengths of the French rail offer?

The expertise of French exhibitors, their technological skills and their innovative capacity allow the French rail industry to be internationally recognized and to be ranked in 3rd place worldwide. In Europe, the French rail sector, bolstered by 1,500 companies and a turnover of more than 4 billion euros - including 1.2 billion euros in exports - occupies 2nd place behind Germany. It is a sector of excellence for the country, enjoying a world-renowned reputation and having one or more international champions in all of its business lines.

At InnoTrans, exhibitors on the France pavilion will involve all of the industry's categories, with the most represented being: mechanical components for rolling stock (45%), carriage fitting (17%), infrastructure (14%) and embedded electronic systems on trains (12%).
