ACI Reinvents Approach to the Drop-in Amplifier Module with New DeAntiquator Product Line, To Improve SNR and Simplify OSP Maintenance

October 13, 2015

ACI, a leading manufacturer of broadband amplifier products, optical nodes and headend optronics for the cable-tec industry across the globe, announces today their new DeAntiquator product series that reshapes the same drop-in modules offered of their best-in-class SDA amplifier products, for easy deployment of life-extending legacy system enhancements. The same advanced features - including those in the revolutionary ACI DSIM - can be delivered across an entire enterprise, regardless of the original housing manufacturer. Only the shape of the module changes to adapt to the appropriate housing. The first two modules in the series, the DeAntiquator AR and DeAntiquator CS, replace eight different legacy and modern line extenders with ACI's 1.2 GHz, GaN enhanced, digitally stable, monitorable, fully plug-and-play drop-in modules that deliver easy setup routines across a deployment.

"ACI is thrilled to announce our DeAntiquator products at SCTE Expo, which by their very name are designed around ACI's commitment to extending the life and usefulness of legacy systems with intelligent plug-and-play solutions", said Donald Dove, CTO of ACI. "The need to bring new life to antiquated systems is a customer demand we hear more about every day. A highly advanced plug-and-play solution, the new ACI DeAntiquator answers that call quickly and affordably."

Along with the DeAntiquator, on display at SCTE Expo is the ACI DSIM, a revolutionary Digital Station Intelligence Manager. Bringing easy app setup and analysis of HFC line amplifiers, the DSIM is the perfect choice for the next decade of coaxial plant life extensions for all-digital services. This highly advanced but easy-to-use gain control module features a wide array of up-to-the-minute technologies, and remains the most cost effective way of deploying on-board local station diagnostics. Superior to competitive solutions in the market, the DSIM AGC modules are simple to use, reliable, power efficient and cost effective, helping OSP maintenance professionals achieve their maximum uptime objectives.

Also on display at SCTE Expo is the ACI Emerald Optical Node, the intelligent bridge between fiber and RF networks and the most adaptable node platform in the industry. This fully scalable 4×4 optical node comes in a mini-bridger housing with a redundant power supply option available only in nodes twice the size. Its design helps to standardize the optical node as an economical platform for everything from traditional HFC, fiber deep and the micro hub. Similar to what the ACI DSIM does for the RF plant, the ACI Emerald keeps RF plant-level control stable at the launch point, ensuring end-to-end fiber grade stability.

The ACI QFlex is also on display at SCTE. Today, there are two ways to expand capacity in an existing upstream plant. Purchase more lasers, or make the lasers you own actually work for you. QFlex stands out where other digital return systems struggle, by maintaining performance over the return bandwidth of 250 MHz with a dynamic range able to carry 4096 QAM over the full spectrum. QFlex features an element monitoring capability for easy-to-implement status supervision of HFC nodes without the cost and complexity associated with stand-alone monitoring systems. The QFlex radically reduces the cost of lasers, consumes minimal power, and is designed for easy deployment.

At booth #2121 of SCTE Expo, ACI will display and demonstrate additional products and technologies critical to the success of cable-tec professionals everywhere, including the ACI NanoHub, Acion 8000, and more. SCTE (Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers) Expo is held at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA, from October 13-16.
