5/12/2015

"It is with great pleasure to have ECDIS Ltd. join the FURUNO NavSkills training network. FURUNO has already signed up with multiple high performance training centres around the world and with the introduction of the well reputed ECDIS Ltd., FURUNO can now offer high quality ECDIS type specific training in UK as well," says Mads Friis Soerensen, Manager of FURUNO INS Training Centre, which is responsible for the operation and management of the Navskills training network.

ECDIS Ltd. has already established a strong brand in ECDIS education and training, and has many years of experience in the field. The company is approved by MCA to conduct the generic ECDIS training and other training courses to seafarers. It is a natural development that FURUNO and ECDIS Ltd. join forces as the two companies works on the same principles and values. It was just a matter of time.

Besides offering many different kind of training in their facility in Southampton, ECDIS Ltd. is also very active in the ECDIS community publishing books on the subject and attending conferences and seminars sharing the experiences and knowledge accumulated in the company.

FURUNO has been establishing cooperation with training centres all over the world to provide good quality training with focus on the increase of competences amongst navigators operating FURUNO ECDIS.

Today FURUNO can offer class room training in United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Ukraine, Turkey, Italy, United Arab Emirates, India, the Philippines, China and Australia in addition to FURUNO distant learning systems.

To ensure the quality and performance of the selected training providers, FURUNO assess the candidate training centres carefully and audit the training partners selected. This is to assure ship owners and authorities, that the training provided through the NavSkills training network partners fully meets the standards required by the authorities and give great value to the ship owners in terms of much more efficient and safe operation of ECDIS.
