SPE ANTEC® 2015 Technical Program Will Include Two Multi-presentation Sessions on 3D Printing / Additive Manfacturing
|Heightened Interest in 3D Technology Is Leading to Formation of an SPE Special Interest Group (SIG), Members of Which Also Organized One of the Two ANTEC Sessions
BETHEL, CT, U.S.A., February 11, 2015: The intense need to know more about 3D printing / additive manufacturing that is evident across the plastics industry has led the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) to expand the presence of this exciting technology at next month's SPE ANTEC® Orlando 2015, the Society announced today.
There will be two sessions on 3D printing / additive manufacturing during ANTEC Orlando, which will take place March 23-25, 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, FL, U.S.A. and will be co-located with the NPE2015 international plastics show. The sessions will take place as follows:
Tuesday, March 24
Plenary Address at 11:30 a.m. by Heinz Gaub, managing director of technology and engineering for Arburg, Inc.: "Arburg Plastic Freeforming - Additive Manufacturing of Plastic Parts Using Standard Granulates." This will be an introduction to the two sessions to follow.
New Technologies Forum from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.: "3D Printing with a Focus on Material Development," including the following presentations along with a concluding interactive panel discussion:
"Open Doors with 3D Printing," by Peter Weijmarshausen, Shapeways, Inc.
"Bring Great Things to Life with AM!" by Bryan Crutchfield, Materialise NV
"Arburg Plastic Freeforming (AKF) - New Industrial Additive Process," by Dr. O. Kessling, Arburg, Inc.
"Breaking Barriers in Additive Manufacturing," by Lonnie Love, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
"High Heat and High Impact Poly(Lactic Acid) Compounds for Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing," by Edwin Tam, Teknor Apex Company.
Wednesday, March 25
Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing Super Session from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. The session is organized by the 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing Working Group, which is in the process of forming a Special Interest Group (SIG) within SPE. More information on the SIG is available by contacting email@example.com.
"Education Presentation: Clearing the Air about 3D Printing Emissions," by Dr. Steven Wright, Eastman Chemical.
"Large Scale Fused Deposition Modeling with Reinforced Plastics," by Vlastimil Kunc, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
"Comparison of Flame Retardancy Performance: Injection Molding versus 3D Printing," by Jazon Zhu, PolyOne Corporation.
"Fatigue Performance of Fused Deposition Modeling Style 3D Printing versus Injection Molded Ultem® 9085," by Jane Spikowski, PolyOne Corporation.
3D printing will also be featured in the co-located NPE2015 exposition, including a special NPE3D™ pavilion with exhibits and demonstrations.
